| Description of Research: |
To study the link between estrogen and glaucoma. Specifically characterizing how age of menopause and ocular hypertension affect visual function, cell viability, and biomechanical properties of the eye. |
| Relevance to VA: |
Women's health is becoming a growing concern for the VA as the number of women veterans has doubled over the last decade and is expected to increase. Here, we aim to examine glaucoma and the role estrogen may play in modulating the risk of glaucoma in women. |
