|Description of Research:
|1. My research is focussed on characterizing clinically relevant genetic variations and their relationship with subcellular, cellular and cardiovascular phenotypes. As part of this endeavor, I am actively involved as co-PI in the Emory Cardiovascular Genebank.
2. Over the past decade we have implemented hospital-wide strategies around early defibrillation programs using AEDs and conventional defibrillators in AED mode achieving higher survival rates of cardiac arrest victims. We have participated in an international study (AWAreness during REsuscitation experiment) to obtain a deeper understanding of the post-cardiac arrest syndrome and the role of cerebral oximetery in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
3. Currently, we are investigating the role of mobile technologies to improve access to cardiac rehabilitation as well as to enhance self management strategies in patients with chronic heart failure in order to improve quality of life, reduce hospital readmissions, and ultimately increase survival.

|1. Identifying genetic factors contributing to cardiovascular risk in veterans with coronary artery disease, heart failure and cardiac arrhythmias.
2. Improving survival from in-hospital cardiac arrest and preservation of cognitive and functional capacity in veterans with in-hospital cardiac arrest.
3. Using mobile technologies to improve access to cardiac rehabilitation and enhance self management strategies in veterans with chronic heart failure.
