Primary Research Interest: Psychiatry
Description of Research: I study the genetic and molecular basis of depression, PTSD, and Alzheimer's dementia, as well as resilience to these conditions.
Relevance to VA: I study the genetic and neurobiological mechanisms of depression, PTSD, and dementia. Our Veterans are disproportionately affected by these disorders. My lab's overarching goal is to identify the genes and brain proteins that contribute to the pathogenesis of these conditions to facilitate effort in developing effective treatments for these debilitating conditions.
